Job Description:

The Maintenance Manager at Hall Family Wines will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of maintenance and repair operations within our winery and tasting room facilities. As a key member of our team and hands-on supervisor, you will ensure the efficient and effective operation of machinery, equipment, and infrastructure to support the production and safety standards of our winery. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision:
Lead, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring they perform their duties effectively and safely.
Schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.

Facilities and Equipment Maintenance:
Conduct routine inspections of winery equipment, machinery, and facilities.
Repair and maintain a variety of facilities systems, components, and structures; repairs building plumbing, low-voltage, and line voltage electric systems, door hardware, fire and life safety protection equipment/systems, irrigation systems, sensors and related hardware and software; maintains indoor/outdoor facilities, fans, lights and related; conducts structural inspections for safety.
Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on a wide variety of buildings, facilities, equipment, and systems.
Communicate regularly with production management concerning the status of equipment and facility systems.
Complete daily and weekly checks of all systems and equipment.
Monitoring, troubleshooting, and repair of glycol cooling and heating systems throughout winemaking and barrel aging spaces.
Maintain 1.4 acres of solar panels.
Perform preventative maintenance and coordinate repairs for Hospitality department and Tasting Room spaces.

Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve equipment and machinery malfunctions promptly.
Collaborate with relevant departments to identify and address maintenance-related issues affecting production and hospitality.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records of spare parts, tools, and equipment inventory.
Monitor and reorder supplies as needed to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Safety Compliance:
Work with the Safety Manager to enforce safety protocols and standards to minimize workplace accidents.
Conduct safety training for maintenance staff and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Budget Management:
Assist in developing and managing the maintenance department budget.
Monitor expenses and seek cost-effective solutions to maintain equipment and facilities.

Vendor Relations:
Coordinate with external contractors and suppliers for specialized maintenance services or repairs.
Procure multiple competitive quotes for specialized services and repairs.
Negotiate contracts and ensure work is completed to the required standards.

Documentation:
Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation, including work orders, equipment manuals, and inspection reports.
Generate reports on maintenance activities, equipment status, and budget expenditures.
Oversee all storm and wastewater monitoring, compliance, and reporting.
Oversee water quality testing and reporting for state water system compliance.
CERS reporting, ARB reporting for DOORS and RMP.

Other Duties:
Provide support as needed to ensure seamless operation of all parts of the business.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or trade school certification or college degree preferred.
5+ years of facilities maintenance and winery system management experience in a medium or large winery required.
Previous supervisory experience required.
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot and repair machinery.
Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in maintenance.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills; strong attention to detail.
Proficiency in computer applications for maintenance management and record-keeping.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and communication platforms like Slack.
Experience with CMMS software is a plus.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Valid CA driver’s license (Class C) and ability to be covered by company insurance.
Ability to work flexible hours and be on call for emergency maintenance situations.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings.
