Sugarloaf Wine Company is a premier small-lot custom crush winery in Sonoma County, located just outside of Santa Rosa on Sonoma Highway. We provide a state-of-the art winemaking facility and a passionate staff dedicated to the highest standard of care to support our discerning clients in crafting their ultra-premium wines.

We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team as Cellar Worker. Our ideal candidate possesses a positive attitude, strong work ethic, attention to detail, commitment to excellence and the ability to contribute to our culture of respectful communication, collaborative teamwork and outstanding customer service. This is a full-time, hourly position eligible for a comprehensive benefit package, including medical, dental, vision insurance, paid time off and 401(k).

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Cellar Master, the Cellar Worker is responsible for the carrying out routine and complex cellar and cleaning procedures and wine production activities in accordance with work order instructions and operational policies, to ensure the high quality of all wines produced. Performs the physical work to process grapes, manage wine in tanks and barrels and prepare for bottling. Participates in maintaining a safe work environment and keeping the cellar and equipment clean and organized.


ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•  Ability to work long hours, including weekends, during harvest
•  Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights on high ladder or catwalk
•  Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, lift, twist, kneel, crouch, crawl, pull, push, carry, grasp, reach and stoop as needed and sometimes for extended periods
•  Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, such as bending, lifting
•  Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly and 50+ lbs. on occasion
•  Ability to work with chemicals that require protective equipment (goggles, gloves, etc.)
•  Ability to stand and walk on uneven surfaces for extended periods of time
•  Ability to perform work duties inside and outdoors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•  Education: High School Diploma
•  Two or more years previous winery cellar experience
•  Ability to commit to working full-time plus extended hours during various periods of the year
•  Must be able to verbally communicate in English and possess good reading, writing and basic math skills.
•  Must be able to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules and Standard Operating Procedures
•  A positive attitude, and the ability to function well as part of a multi-functional team
•  Must be able to work safely around equipment, electrical outlets, and chemicals.
•  Must be reliable, possess a good work ethic; must be organized, flexible and pay attention
•  Practical knowledge of cellar operations
•  Knowledge of and commitment to observe safety procedures
•  Practiced skills in a wide variety of cellar operations
•  Ability to operate various types of equipment/machinery including, but not limited to, forklifts, pumps, presses, filters, and pallet jacks
•  Proficient forklift skills
•  Knowledge of and commitment to observe safety procedures
•  Forklift operator certification with high level of proficiency in forklift operation, including moving and stacking barrels with safety and precision
•  Must have a valid driver’s license with good driving record
•  Must be at least 21 years of age and have legal United States work status
