Seasonal Weighmaster

La Crema Winery

Under the general direction of the Lab Supervisor, applicants will have the opportunity to be a part of the harvest process and assist in the receiving of grapes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This is a seasonal, hourly position. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
•  Accurately calculate tonnage or gallonage on trucks received and shipped.
•  Issue weighmaster certificates and BOLS.
•  Maintain accurate records for grapes, juice, and wine receiving and shipping.
•  Communicate clearly with winery, vineyard, and transportation staff.
•  Collect representative grape samples from trucks for lab analysis as needed.
•  Prepare and analyze grape samples for Brix, titratable acidity, and pH.
•  Maintain general cleanliness of the scale and sampling equipment.
•  Assist lab analysts on daily lab housekeeping, sampling, and grape/juice analysis as requested.
•  Maintain general cleanliness of winemaking tasting room.
•  Assist with breakroom cleanliness.
•  Assist in recording laboratory results in winery database.
•  Collect representative samples from tanks and barrels as requested.
•  Monitor tank and barrel fermentations as requested.
•  Provide general help in the cellar as requested.
•  Follow laboratory and cellar Standard Operating Procedures and safety protocols.
•  Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Background and Experience

HS Diploma or GED required. This position requires basic arithmetic skills. Individual must be organized with a strong attention to detail. Must have excellent people skills and be willing to work flexible hours, including overtime.

Physical Demands

Required to stand long periods of time, occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds of weight.

Wage Transparency:

The base pay for this role ranges from $18 - $22 per hour. Compensation will be determined by candidate experience, skills, and location.
