La Honda Winery 2024 Harvest Winemaking Cellar Worker

La Honda Winery is a small, ultra premium winery located in Redwood City. We farm over 50 private vineyards in the Santa Cruz Mountains and produce around 4,000 cases annually. We create wines that reflect our local mountains and are 100% hand-crafted. Varietals farmed include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot, Zinfandel and Cabernet Sauvignon.

For the 2024 harvest, La Honda Winery is seeking a passionate and energetic candidate to join our harvest production team and work directly with the winemaker. It is very important that the candidate be able to work effectively with a team and independently when necessary. The most suitable candidate is a strong-minded individual who is excited to learn and/or grow their production skills and is capable of working long hours while maintaining their enthusiasm and positivity.

Harvest is intense, the hours are commonly 7am to 7pm Mon - Fri and sometimes longer in crunch periods, with some weekend work required. The job will begin mid/late August and is anticipated to last about 2-3 months, subject to harvest conditions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- Winery and equipment cleaning and sanitation.
- Fruit receiving, sorting, and processing.
- Vineyard site visits and sampling.
- Fermentation management including pumpovers, punchdowns, barrel fermentation management, brix and temp checks, nutrient additions, inoculations, and pressing.
- General cellar work including sampling, racking, barreling down and topping.
- Adhere to safety standards at all times.
- Maintain cellar cleanliness and organization.
- In the absence of the winemaker, ensure that cellar operations continue without interruption and with a high degree of efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

- Strong work ethic and a positive attitude, ability to work long and variable hours.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, such as lifting up to 50 pounds, repetitive movements, bending down, and ascending/descending ladders.
- Have flexibility and willingness to work in changing environments.
- Work on wet surfaces.
- Passion and interest to learn about winemaking.
- A love of wine.
- Spanish skills are a plus!
- Must love music!

Pay TBD depending on experience.
