Job Description:

Schramsberg and Davies Vineyards are seeking a driven intern to assist our Viticulture and Lab department, during the 2024 Harvest. Established in 1965, Schramsberg has been a premier sparkling wine producer for almost 60 years, while our Davies team has been crafting high-end Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon since 2001. This internship begins by assisting our Viticulturist in June, then transition to the lab once vineyard sampling/scouting has concluded. While housing and a car are not provided, our team enjoys weekend meals when working and mileage is reimbursed. We’re excited to welcome our 2024 team and look forward to reading your application.

Work responsibilities include:

•  Track phenological development in estate and contract vineyards across the North Coast (Marin, Sonoma, Napa, and Mendocino).
•  Pest, disease, and water stress scouting.
•  Cluster sampling and processing prior to harvest.
•  Execute analysis on a range of samples, from grape to finished product, using an autotitrator, Alcolyzer, cash stills and/or Biosystems SPICA.
•  Maintain up-to-date entries in spreadsheets pertaining to analysis, trials, and fermentation tracking.
•  Review wine analysis and communicate out-of-specification results.
•  Capable of performing primary and secondary inoculations to tanks and barrels.
•  Monitor fermentation activity in tank and barrel.
•  Tank and barrel sampling.
•  Other duties as assigned by Winemaking staff.

Qualifications:

•  Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
•  Reliable car.
•  Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
•  Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
•  Strong organizational, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
•  Able to work long hours during Harvest.
•  Able to lift 50 lbs.
•  Able to walk, kneel and bend for long periods of time.
•  Able to climb stairs and walk across uneven surfaces.
•  May be exposed to hot, cold, and noisy environments.
