Hospitality Associate
Position Summary:
The Hospitality Associate supports the team by conducting excellent customer service alongside other team members and independently. The wide variety of duties require flexibility, organization, and strong public relations skills as well as the ability to articulate the product at hand and the ability to sell organically and non-intrusively. This position requires dedication to customer experience so that each visitor has the best experience possible. This position is perfect for someone who has experience with service in a winery, restaurant, or hotel background. This position reports to the General Manager.

Essential Functions:
- Possess and maintain an in-depth knowledge about the wines, the vineyards, the portfolio, the Finger Lakes and comparative wine regions globally.
- Managing guest experiences at the tasting lounge and AirBnB loft to a high level of hands-on customer service including creating a relaxing and luxurious atmosphere, answering questions, and assisting when needed.
- Accurately handle routine purchasing transactions Commerce 7 (and remotely, Square), which include accounting of daily sales, process of returns, and new member sign up.
- Assist with the annual calendar of special events for the tasting lounge
- Assist with managing the inventory of wine stock, retail, and food items at the tasting lounge.
- Assist with packing wine club shipments and wine orders.
- May be asked to participate as winery representative at local festivals and events.
- Assist with general organization and upkeep of the tasting lounge including cleaning guest spaces, bathroom, kitchen, and storage space.

Necessary Skills:
- Ability to speak and understand fluent English required for all positions. Additional languages a plus.
- Ability to articulate and communicate efficiently about wine, wine production, terroir and varieties.
- Knowledge of wine making techniques, equipment and procedures, fine dining service and etiquette.
- Read and interpret documents such as memos, instructions, policies, and manuals.
- Ability to present information effectively to groups of customers and participate in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to read body language and understand boundaries through doing so, deescalate high tension guests, communicate direct, sincere, efficiently, professionally with compassion.
- Ability to share in the human experience while maintaining professionalism.
- Able to communicate pertinent details and information diligently to maintain a team playing position as well as independence in day-to-day activities.

Qualifications:
- Must be able to legally work in the US. No visa/immigration assistance is available for this position.
- 2 plus years of hospitality experience or winery tasting room experience preferred.
- Must have own transportation and valid driver’s license.
- Must be 21+ years of age.
- Must be able to independently lift and carry up to 50 pounds for winery shipping, stocking and delivery purposes.
- WSET level 3 or equivalent a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Apply common sense understanding to multiple tasks, analyze and solve practical problems, prioritize, and delegate tasks and projects, work both independently and as part of a team, and adapt to frequent changes in the work environment.
- Possess intermediate computer skills which can include e-mail, internet, word processing, spreadsheet, basic database activity, graphic arts, and/or publishing.
- Ability to use Microsoft, Tock, and Commerce 7 programs.
- Comfort around the use of PC and Apple tools.

Work Environment:
- Primarily in a wine tasting lounge with dim-lighting. Short periods outdoors while moving inventory. May be asked to assist with winery operations from time to time in cool, adequately ventilated cellar.
- Moderate noise levels typical of public space: music sound system, public conversations, telephones/cell phones, large groups.

Schedule and Travel Requirements:
- Part Time
- Variable schedule: primarily a set schedule but may alter slightly from week to week during busy seasons, require weekends, periodic evenings, and/or periodic or seasonal overtime.

Salary & Benefits:
- We offer a competitive pay package starting pay range: $16-20/hr DOE.
