Job Description:

We are seeking an initiative-taking Entry-Level Enology Technician to join the Ackley Brands team in Prosser, Washington. This position is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about winemaking and eager to gain firsthand experience in both cellar operations and laboratory analysis. The Enology Technician will assist in the winemaking process, with a strong focus on learning lab techniques and ensuring the highest quality standards in wine production.

Key Responsibilities:

Winemaking Support
- Assist winemakers in monitoring and managing fermentation, blending, and stabilization processes.
- Collect samples from tanks, barrels, and other production vessels for analysis.
- Perform cellar work such as racking, topping, and preparing wines for bottling.

Laboratory Training and Analysis
- Learn and perform laboratory tests, including but not limited to:
- pH and TA (Titratable Acidity) analysis
- Brix measurements and fermentation tracking
- Free and total SO2 analysis
- Alcohol content testing using distillation or instrumentation.
- Maintain accurate records of lab results and production activities via Vintrace.
- Ensure the lab is kept clean and organized.

Quality Assurance
- Assist with monitoring wine quality through regular sensory evaluations and lab data.
- Collaborate with winemakers to identify and resolve any quality issues promptly.
- Support compliance with all industry standards and regulations.

Compliance / Wine tracking
- Compliance reporting for TTB and other local regulations
- Tracking lots for traceability and regulatory compliance
- Using software (Vintrace) to input and maintain records.

Team Collaboration and Growth
- Work closely with cellar staff, winemakers, and laboratory personnel to support all aspects of wine production.
- Participate in harvest operations, including extended hours and weekend work during the busy season.
- Commit to ongoing learning and development in Enology and laboratory practices.

Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or coursework in Enology, Viticulture, Chemistry, Food Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous winery, lab, or production experience is a plus, but not required.

Skills:
- Basic knowledge of wine production processes or a strong willingness to learn.
- Mindfulness and ability to work in a demanding environment.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with basic lab equipment and procedures is a plus but will be trained.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in varying temperatures.

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team during peak production times.
- Contribution to maintaining wine quality and achieving production goals.
