We are looking to expand our Viticulture team to include an Assistant Viticulturist. This position will:
• Support Viticulturist in creating fungicide, fertility, and miscellaneous programs.
• Maintain, implement, and manage data collection in AgCode and other services.
• Provide technical support to Viticulture Department and Vineyard Operations staff.
• Help maintain and implement sustainability certifications.
• Scout and monitor vineyards for pests, diseases, nutritional disorders, and moisture status; communicate findings in both written and verbal form.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture, Plant Biology, Plant Science, or other Agriculture related field
• 3+ years vineyard work experience
• Experience working with AgCode or similar farm management software
• Computer literacy including MS Office and agriculture-oriented applications (desktop and/or mobile apps)
• Agricultural Pest Control Advisor License or ability to obtain one
• Must have valid California driver’s license and be insurable by company
• Ability to take direction and prioritize tasks in a coordinated manner with coworkers or independently
• Ability to operate an ATV
• Ability to work in both an indoor and outdoor environment, sometimes during inclement weather conditions
• Ability to lift 40 pounds
Desired Qualifications
• Experience with GIS data collection and software
• Experience collecting data for research trials and summarizing findings
• Basic understanding of the winemaking process to assist with winegrowing goals
• Ability to speak Spanish is a plus but not a requirement for this position
Physical Environment
• Usually working outdoors in extremes of heat/humidity/cold and other weather conditions
• Often exposed to dust, noise, gasoline, diesel, agricultural environment and equipment
• Work is strenuous involving bending, stooping, awkward body positions
• Ability to see clearly enough to a) drive safely b) distinguish vineyard pests and grape varieties c) recognize employees
• Ability to work nights
