Position Summary:
This position is responsible for all inspection, maintenance and repair of all machinery and equipment with the goal of no/minimum downtime in order to ensure maximum productivity. It is also responsible for any and all building maintenance and repair as necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Follow Preventative Maintenance Program
• Follow safety rules and regulations
• Troubleshoot/Diagnose repair issues with plant equipment
• Order parts as necessary
• Track, organize and maintain inventory of vital parts needed to maintain daily plant operation
• Keep maintenance shop clean and organized
• Disassemble, repair and reassemble machinery and equipment as per manufacturers specifications
• Record any machine maintenance activity and or repairs
• Set up and operate machines and make any and all necessary adjustments to regulate operation
• Inspect or test damaged machine parts and advise supervisors of defective parts and repair needs
• Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine if machinery is working properly and or detect problems
• Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts and other equipment according to specified procedures
• Maintain all tools and supplies to ensure that they are always in good operating order
• Inspect or test damaged machine parts and mark defective areas/advise supervisors of repair needs
• Read and update Maintenance task list to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance
• Ability to use a weld, cut and fabricate with metal
• Ability to use basic hand tools (wrenches, press, pullers, hammers, air tools, cordless tool, etc.)
• Collaborate with coworkers to repair or move machines, machine parts or equipment
• Team player- ready to train new and existing employees
• Contribute expertise and follow leadership directives
• Verbally communicate with coworkers and management in a professional and positive manner
• Professional and respectful conduct with coworkers, management and vendors
• Keeps other departments informed of developments affecting their functions
• Communicate with Operations Manager about any non-typical repairs in a timely manner
• This position is a minimum of 40 hours a week
• Regular and reliable attendance
• Self- starter, can be depended on to complete a task under minimal supervision
• May be required to work in adverse weather conditions
• May be required to work in high altitudes
• All other duties as necessary
Education and Other Requirements
• General Education required (Reading, Writing, Basic Math)
• Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently
• Mechanic Certifications helpful
• Must be able to read and understand schematics for equipment repair
• 1-year minimum of maintenance experience or equivalent training
• Problem solving skills required
• Must work independently and as a member of team
• Develops constructive and cooperative working relationships with coworkers, vendors and other company contacts, maintaining them over time
• Strong work ethic, integrity, honesty
• Dependable, reliable, fulfills responsibilities
• Basic knowledge of building and electrical
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be able to be physically active for the duration of the work day
• Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms, legs and whole body
• Must be able to stand, sit, bend, stoop, squat, walk, climb, lift, balance, grasp, while handling tools and materials
• Safely climb ladders and stairs
• Vision- must be able to see small intricate moving parts
Compensation will be determined by candidate experience, skills, and location.
