Job Description:

Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars is a Napa Valley estate rooted in the legends of the Stags Leap District and Napa Valley’s ascent to global wine recognition, has a job opportunity for a full time, hourly Cellar Worker Grade III position to assist with the production of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars wines. This position has opportunity to learn more cellar tasks and grow into the next level.

Location: Stags Leap Wine Cellars North Location, 8711 Silverado Trail

Essential Functions
•  Meet all of Cellar Worker II requirements.
•  Complete all stages of barrel work: Steaming, washing, filling, stir and top, gassing and barrel placement.
•  Proficient with moving 4-barrel racks
•  Complete work orders fully with tank measurements, gallons, intro to cellar calculations and sign off.
•  Perform the following tasks: Move, rack, blend, fine, filter, and complete additions to wine.
•  Work all positions on bottling line: Dump, Stack and Pack.
•  Lead crush basic operation tasks: Shoveling pomace, sorting fruit, additions, pump overs and barrel rolling.
•  Operate a forklift – Intro to full and empty barrel movements.
•  Some knowledge of wine faults and ability to recognize as such.
•  Assist with wine filtrations.
•  Intro to scale master operations.
•  Perform all job functions in strict adherence to company Health and Safety protocols, and in accordance with quality control standards and standard operating procedures.
•  Assist in training Cellar II and Interns.


Working Conditions
•  Projects will take place both indoors and outdoors where temperatures can range from cold to hot depending on the season.
•  Some tasks occur at height on catwalks, scissorlifts or ladders.
•  Noise level is usually moderate.


Physical Requirements
•  Full body mobility: Ability to stand, walk, sit, use tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, kneel.
•  Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
•  Regularly required to roll, move, and/or lift 60-gallon empty wine barrels when needed.


Qualifications
•  High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
•  Must be 21 years of age.
•  Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
•  Ability to read and understand all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
•  Ability to follow work orders and written instructions.
•  Ability to accurately calculate figures.
•  Valid Driver’s License and be insurable by the company insurance.
•  Must be able to be certified in forklift and scissorlift operation.
•  Ability to work nights and/or weekends during the harvest season or as business requires.
•  Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
•  Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm.
•  Commitment to excellence and high standards.
•  Two to four years of previous wine or beverage production experience.
•  History of responsible use of alcohol and other appropriate conduct, as well as fitness to be licensed, permitted, and/or certified by state and/or local regulatory bodies.
