About Us: Digital Beverage Group is one of the largest online wine companies, with a culture that blends the best of both Napa Valley and Silicon Valley. We operate multiple wine ecommerce websites including Last Bottle, Last Bubbles, and First Bottle among others. As we continue to grow beyond our current 115 headcount, we are looking to expand our Human Resources department.
Position Overview: The Human Resources Assistant Manager will report directly to the Director of Human Resources and will play a vital role in managing our HR processes. This position will support HR functions for our California and out of state locations. Areas of focus include payroll processing, recruiting and onboarding, and maintaining compliant HR records.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manages full-cycle recruitment process; works with managers to update job descriptions and postings, candidate screening, and scheduling interviews as needed. Maintains current market research on active job boards for maximum exposure.
• Initiates background and reference checks, creates offers of employment, and coordinates a smooth onboarding process for new hires as well as hiring departments.
• Conducts new hire orientation programs, including scheduling follow ups and check-ins throughout first 60 days.
• Responsible for semi-monthly payroll processing, ensuring compliance with wage and hour laws and company policies.
• Assures the maintenance of human resource databases and related employee records systems, and compliance with applicable legal requirements.
• Act as the initial contact for employee inquiries and concerns; escalates complex issues to the Director of Human Resources.
• Implements and maintains Company-wide Org Chart; maintains master list of company contacts.
• Works closely with Director of Human Resources on engagement activities, including birthdays/anniversaries, recognition program, adherence to Company values.
• Assists with the planning and implementation of training programs. Responsible for tracking employee training progress and ensuring compliance.
• Keeps abreast of new trends and innovations and changes in laws in the field of human resources administration, especially employment and labor relations.
• Assists with the administration of compensation and benefit programs.
• Supports the Director of Human Resources with performance reviews and evaluations.
• Maintains an HR log of grievances and/or pending litigation, including on the most sensitive matters.
• Accepts training opportunities and additional responsibilities as the growth of the Companies may require.
• Appears for scheduled work with regular, reliable and punctual attendance. Establishes and maintains cooperative, effective, and productive working relationships using tact, patience and courtesy. Effectively plans and organizes work and completes tasks within prescribed timeframes.
Other Responsibilities:
• May be involved in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
• May assist with risk management and compliance audits.
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience in human resources
• Experience with payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
• Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Bilingual in Spanish.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
It’s a plus if you have:
• Experience with HRIS systems such as ADP, BambooHR, and/or Paychex.
• Experience with acquisitions
• Knowledge of and passion for the wine industry or winery operations.
Physical Demands:
• Ability to work onsite in our American Canyon, California operations center.
• Occasional lifting of office supplies or materials up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including exposure to varying temperatures.
