The Cove Kitchen Lead – Seattle, WA
The Cove Kitchen Lead is responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, efficiency, and cleanliness in a fast-paced wine bar environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, a passion for culinary excellence, and the ability to work seamlessly with the front-of-house team to create an exceptional guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Culinary Execution & Quality Control:
•  Oversee food preparation, presentation, and execution to maintain consistency and quality in all menu items.
•  Ensure all dishes pair well with the wine / beer selection and align with The Cove’s culinary vision.
•  Collaborate with management to develop seasonal menus and wine pairings.
•  Maintain knowledge of food and wine pairings to enhance guest experience.

Kitchen Operations & Leadership:
•  Lead and mentor the kitchen team, ensuring efficiency and adherence to standards.
•  Train kitchen staff on proper food handling, preparation, and plating techniques.
•  Oversee inventory, ordering, and receiving kitchen supplies and ingredients.
•  Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
•  Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and functioning.

Collaboration & Service Support:
•  Work closely with management and front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service and timely food delivery.
•  Communicate effectively with staff regarding menu updates and ingredient details.
•  Assist in special events, wine tastings, and private dining experiences.

Financial & Cost Control:
•  Monitor food costs, portion control, and waste reduction strategies.
•  Assist in pricing and cost analysis to maintain profitability.
•  Implement efficient prep and storage procedures to maximize yield and minimize waste.

Qualifications & Requirements:
•  Proven experience in a lead kitchen role, preferably in a wine bar, restaurant, or hospitality setting.
•  Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety, and sanitation practices.
•  Ability to create and execute wine-friendly small plates, charcuterie, and seasonal dishes.
•  Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
•  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure and efficiency.
•  Passion for food, wine, and hospitality.




Physical Requirements:
•  Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
•  Comfortable working in a high-temperature, fast paced kitchen environment.
•  Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
