Dehlinger is a small, family run winery that has been in operation for 50 years. Our wines have a reputation that outstrips our physical size. We focus on producing the highest quality Estate grown Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Syrah from the Dehlinger Estate in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley.

We invite a qualified and dedicated individual to join us in the pursuit of winemaking excellence in the role of Enologist. This is an opportunity for a winemaking professional to gain experience working closely with small lots of handcrafted wines in a quality-oriented and intellectual environment. The desire to have a career in winemaking is important as well as a strong interest in the wines of Sonoma County.

The Enologist reports to the Associate Winemaker and provides support in both the cellar and in the laboratory. The Enologist must be prepared to personally carry out the majority of the routine cellar and laboratory work.

Key duties include but are not limited to:

Cellar: sampling; topping; topping scheduling; additions; racking; bottling; cleaning; barrel work; fruit processing; fermentation monitoring; cap management; equipment operation and maintenance; inventory and ordering of cellar supplies; forklift and scissor lift operation; facility monitoring and maintenance.

Laboratory: conducting analysis on wines throughout all stages of production utilizing common wine laboratory assays and spectrophotometry; communication of results to winemaking team; maintaining laboratory equipment; ensuring the reliability of results; inventory and ordering of laboratory supplies; setting up for winemaking team tastings and bench trials; bottling quality control.

Record keeping: data entry; record creation and maintenance; report creation; operation of VinTrace software.

Participation in occasional promotional activities, which may include weekends.

A degree in Viticulture and/or Enology or in a similar Science related field is required. Production and laboratory experience is required. Must be able to lawfully work in the USA and have an insurable DMV record and a US driver’s license. Must be versatile and able to work a variable schedule with extended hours during the harvest period. Must be able to perform strenuous physical tasks, such as bending down, lifting up to 50 pounds and be able to climb ladders. Must be able to work with SO2, and when doing so be able to work with a properly fitting full face respirator.

The Enologist is expected to fulfill their role with a high level of skill and professionalism and to contribute to the overall positive energy of our work environment. We expect full professional dedication to Dehlinger and therefore applicants with their own label/brand/similar projects are asked not to apply.

This is a salaried, overtime exempt position with company benefits. The compensation range is $60,000 to $75,000 per annum and depends on experience and qualifications. This is a position with the potential for growth within our company. The ideal start time is Monday July 7th 2025 or sooner if feasible.
