Napa Valley Grapegrowers Inspiring Future Leaders in the Wine Industry
by Napa Valley Grapegrowers
NAPA VALLEY, Calif., (Sept. 14, 2024) -- Napa Valley Grapegrowers (NVG) has released a special episode of its "Grown in Napa Valley" podcast highlighting two impactful programs: The Patrick Foley Fields of Opportunity Summer Mentorship Program and NVG's Paso Adelante committee. Both programs help shape the future of the wine industry by creating opportunities for the next generation of leaders in the Napa Valley.
The Patrick Foley Fields of Opportunity program was created in partnership with the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation, Napa Valley Unified School District and the Napa Valley Education Foundation to connect high school students with the largest local industry to explore career options in their own backyard, while the Napa Valley Grapegrowers' Paso Adelante, a committee for young professionals lead by young professionals, provides a space for mentorship and support for those ages 22 to 30 who are establishing their careers in the wine and vine industries.
On the podcast, Sonya DeLuca, Executive Director and CEO of the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation, reflects on the history of the Fields of Opportunity program during its 2024 graduation, where 30 students were honored for completing an intensive 8-week summer mentorship. The episode features first-hand accounts from the students, their mentors, and special guests. Following that, Cris Romero, Viticulturist at Silverado Farming Company and founding member of Paso Adelante, discusses how this new initiative is opening doors for young professionals in viticulture and winemaking.
As it approaches its 50th anniversary in 2025, NVG is committed to ensuring the future of the wine grape industry by inspiring future leaders.
