Havest Winemaking Internship

Dusky Goose

Carlton, OR

Job Description:

Looking to gain a foothold in the fascinating and fast-paced world of wine production? Dusky Goose is hiring only a limited number of positions for our tight-knit Harvest Winemaking team. We are a highly regarded winery focused on small-lot fermentations of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the world-renowned Dundee Hills of the Willamette Valley.

This seasonal position typically begins in late August and wraps around late October or early November. We are looking for employees who are energetic, positive, and passionate about the work they do. Applicants should be comfortable working individually, in close contact with their supervisors, and in a team environment. All levels of experience are encouraged to apply provided you are willing to listen and learn. Due to our smaller size, we offer a unique opportunity for you to be involved in every aspect of the winemaking process, providing all interns with a well-rounded winemaking education along the way. Our winemaking interns are fully hands-on from the time the grapes arrive at the winery, until the resulting wine is put into barrels.

In addition to making some of the best wines in Oregon, you’ll also enjoy opportunities to see behind-the-scenes at other incredible wineries as we arrange visits with some of our colleagues around the Willamette Valley. And as busy as we are during harvest, we always make time to sit down together to try different wines and enjoy lunch provided by a handful of local caterers/restaurants.

Day to day duties include:
Vineyard sampling
Grape receiving, sorting, and processing
Fermentation management: punch downs, pump overs, sugar analyses and nutrient/yeast additions.
Draining and digging tanks
Press operations
Barrel selection, prep, and filling
Cleaning and sanitization (of course)

Forklift training and certification will be provided by full-time winemaking staff prior to fruit receival.

If you are ready to meet your new best friends, blast some music, and make outstanding wines, please submit your resume and a short cover letter about your interest in working with wine and your favorite wines to try!
